In this case, I really mean LAUNCH! I’m happy to announce a new (updated) project from David, the MK2 Rocket! The first one he designed really worked with a D-cell chemical engine and based off his experiences with it, made a number of small tweeks and optimizations to use less material while building it even stronger at 6mm. It’s basically the same size except it’s thicker. You can buy this MK2 Rocket at WoodMarvels.com in PDF woodcraft, DXF CNC router [...]

About a week ago, I came to the realization that the timing was finally right to launch a long-planned idea I had in the back of my mind. Selling 3D printer files! Why develop a site dedicated to 3D printing files? WoodMarvels.com is dedicated to wooden products that can be cut with CNC routers or laser printers… to a lesser extent, traditional woodcrafters. The site has grown in popularity and products since the very beginning and I really enjoy working [...]
I’m usually so deep in the world of 3D that I usually take for granted that the way I display things at WoodMarvels.com is fine. I got an e-mail yesterday from a frustrated visitor who found my site to be anything but easy to use so I asked him “what do you suggest?” The answer I got was a few pages long with lots of very good information as to how I can improve the user experience at my site. [...]
Although I completed this model about a month ago, I’ve only released it now because it was a special secret project I did for the upcoming VIIE Sydney 2010 Show for Trotec, a leading world manufacturer of laser engravers and cutters. I’ll blog about the show later once I receive all the related media. Working on this project actually predates the ANZAC War Memorial but the lessons I learned from this project with the two spans helped me tremendously to [...]
I got a bunch of pictures of David’s laser cut classic biplane… here they are! As you can see from the pictures, David’s classic biplane looks great in both virtual and real form! Classic Biplane: 3D Assembly Animation (720HD)
David has designed an incredibly great looking classic biplane which I’m proud to have for sale right now at WoodMarvels.com. It features a moving propeller and wheels – making the perfect gift for any aviation enthusiast. You can find it right now at WoodMarvels.com under Collaborations /David Newman in PDF blueprints, CNC router DXF and laser cutter EPS formats in addition to a physical kit option which can be cut and delivered right to your door! Classic Biplane: 3D Assembly [...]
For what I thought would be a slow month design wise… it seems to have been anything but! I’ve just completed an update to our original platform crane, the Platform Crane B! It features many of the features that made the first one popular but has been heavily upgraded and simplified to make it all the easier to build and work with. It features a very strong platform that helps support the crane for all those heavy lifts, a cockpit [...]
The WoodMarvels.com Ferris Wheel has now been updated in full HD. This was among my most complicated models when I first started my site, the gears were the toughest challenge. The model itself has remained the same, only the animation has changed. You can buy the EPS, PDF and physical kit right now at WoodMarvels.com under Category / Buildings. Lots more to come including some new stuff very soon! Ferris Wheel: 3D Assembly Animation (720HD)
I rather enjoyed designing the WoodMarvels.com Serving Coffin, functional Guillotine Serving Tray and the Sword Shelf about two years ago (wow!) and I look forward to making new items for this year in between other projects. It’s really fun to do something completely off the wall as it refreshes my design spirit. The models have not changed, I just updated the 3D assembly animations with an updated score, better explanation of how the Sword Shelf works and a few other [...]
I’ve completed the HD re-rendering of the WoodMarvels.com Mobile Crane B and Crab… both models never looked so good! Otherwise, the models are the same, no other updates have been done. Mobile Crane B: 3D Assembly Animation (720HD) Crab: 3D Assembly Animation (720HD)
