Thanks to a recently established partnership, WoodMarvels.com can now offer Vector Art 3D Collections to our customers! A long time coming I’ve had two common complaints through the years with WoodMarvels.com, the first was the pricing structure (see Fair Compensation: A Business Dilemma) and the second was the lack of vector art. Well, I’ve now somewhat solved the first as these files offer unlimited commercial cutting at a low price once you bought the package and the second is issue [...]

Every few months, I get an e-mail from a laser cutting shop unhappy with the licensing system on WoodMarvels.com asking me why I can’t be like XYZ company. My answer is that I basically have no desire to be like XYZ company but I am always open to suggestions. My view on commercial licensing Although it has evolved several times since I started WoodMarvels.com, the thoughts behind receiving fair compensation for the work of designers on my site as well [...]

Angus of Hines Design Labs fame (our newest partner) gave one of David’s rocket models a test flight and was kind enough to send me the video link on YouTube. Looks like a GPS system needs to be added on the nose as it seems to enjoy attacking a tree more than the sky! Anyway, on a Awesome note the Rocket DOES fly -Angus WoodMarvels RocketShip takes Flight !!! The rocket shown in the animation is David’s first rocket model. [...]

The value of partnerships shouldn’t ever be underestimated! This year, my focus was to find companies and individuals who excel in their chosen fields and when there is a mutual benefit, partner with them. This is why I’ve decided to work closely with Trotec Laser and ShopBot Tools and now, Hines Design Labs. The Hines Design Labs Advantage! I run both a laser cutting / CNC router / woodcraft digital blueprints company (WoodMarvels.com) and very recently, began on another tangent [...]

A new project is now available at WoodMarvels.com, a Piper Cherokee. This model looks great and features spinning propellers and a really cool design. There is a pretty good story behind it but I’ll tell that at a later date. You can find the Piper Cherokee at WoodMarvels.com under Collaborations / AskJerry in DXF, EPS, PDF and physical kit form. September of this year was a very busy month and and thanks to Trotec Laser, also featured the showing of our Sydney Harbour Bridge at the Visual Impact Image Expo Sydney 2010! Here’s a picture of the bridge which was co-branded at the show. Your harbour bridge was a definite eye-catcher (even though for some reason such a model seemed to be the flavour of the show – your design certainly outperformed all others). Thanks again for your support! Oliver, [...]

WoodMarvels.com partnered with ShopBot Tools for the 2010 Detroit Maker Faire and the 2010 NY World Maker Faire as well. In the first joint project we did with ShopBot Tools, we designed a quick-build wooden Ford Model T Runabout and for the second, a Platform Crane B which they scaled up by a factor of two! Here is what the layout looked like using ShopBot Tools path software. Here are the pictures of it being cut by a ShopBot CNC [...]
