I made a bunch of my models available in DXF format on WoodMarvels.com once I decided to make this file format available but not all due to time constraints. That being being the case, if there is a file you with to purchase in DXF which isn’t currently available, just contact me and I’ll make it so. As a result, I’ve now released both our Medieval Castle Walls B and Rusk Fortress models in DXF format for those of you [...]

A few days after officially launching this Medieval Castle, I already have a customer who needs it in DXF for a project! Due to the high piece count, I optimized this DXF file into three major sections that comprise this wooden Medieval Castle, which will aid tremendously for deciding what to put on each board and final assembly. I look forward to seeing this model CNC’ed as the laser cut version looked great. I guess the next technology to use [...]

Something that I’ve struggled with since WoodMarvels.com really started to roll was how to handle commercial inquiries for people interested in purchasing the files on the site and cutting them for a profit. So as to not repeat myself, please read Fair Compensation: A business dilemma for some background and context. Openness and current status There is rarely a day where I’m not sent an e-mail from designers with some amazing design they want added to my site or a [...]

I designed this project back in December and I’m happy to finally have it available for sale at WoodMarvels.com. It’s the huge Medieval Castle that I designed for Trotec Austria and now you can build your very own as well! This castle measures almost a meter long and half a meter high and is made-up of 268 pieces so if you buy the EPS file to laser cut your own, you WILL need the assembly guide unless you are looking [...]

The Mars Explorer was a fun project I gave to myself as a way to generate more interest in my science fiction book – 2847 A.D.: Solar Horizons which is also available on Amazon.com and WoodMarvels.com… sales of that haven’t been where they should be so there is a lot of room for growth there. I noticed after that I promoted the wrong book at the end of the animation but no worries… I will just design another model. Worse [...]

The Medieval Castle I designed for exposition at Trotec’s booth in the International Toy Fair took several turns, I was constrained to design something to fit a pre-defined footprint, I tried to work around this by expanding it higher-up but didn’t envision the wall behind the ledge which is probably why you see the photos of the Medieval Castle not fully glued in the middle. The laser cut wooden Medieval Castle was quite a project for Trotec to cut and [...]

The first show in Europe featuring a WoodMarvels.com design has concluded and was a great success. A very special thanks to Christine @ Trotec Austria for trusting me and putting it all together. The Medieval Castle had over 200 pieces but she put it together wonderfully! The show was very successful and your castle attracted a lot of visitors! Great! I’m looking forward to our future projects. – Christine I just got some pictures, the castle is almost a meter [...]

After I noticed the 3D mistake I did on the Mars Rover after uploading it (Mars is RED, not pink! A video conversion error happened somewhere) I decided to revisit this planet with another model to make amends as going back and fixing old work wasn’t of much interest to me. Here are the result… a MARS EXPLORER! I think I finally got the environment for the red planet down though I see still lots of room for improvement… next [...]

The first month in the year is usually a dozer… meaning lots of sleep and a slowed pace of life. I must say, I took this opportunity to relax a bit… but not too much! I have a bunch of little projects and took time to reflect how I’ll promote WoodMarvels.com in the coming year, thinking of shortcomings and what can be improved. So, what happened at WoodMarvels.com over the past month of January? I released a new model, a [...]
