It’s funny, when I first started WoodMarvels.com over 3 years ago now, all the models were animated as if they were built out of plywood. I hadn’t discovered lasers that could cut through wood back then… so I then updated the model to a “laser cut” and now, thanks to ShopBot Tools… going back to the 3D plywood look! Background A few weeks ago now, I visited ShopBot Tools HQ and got myself a really great ShopBot Desktop – special [...]

I’ve spent the past week and a half redesigning (laser to CNC isn’t as straight forward as I thought it would be) and cutting and assembling model after model thanks to my handy ShopBot Desktop machine and just in time… the weather has gone from cool to just cold up here in Canada! The CNC projects are coming along nicely – hoping to have a stream of them released within the coming days… but here is the largest CNC project [...]
I’m now done the first batch of testing and CNC’ing (thanks to my Desktop Shopbot) of toys which I’ll be releasing as the animations and other production videos are done for each. Unlike their laser equivalent, these CNC router specific projects have been modified to be as much “load and cut” as possible. These files will be available in DXF which includes the Partworks file (which you can import into Aspire too)- the same one I used to cut my [...]
I had a great time last week visiting ShopBot Tools HQ, getting CNC training and then getting my very own ShopBot Desktop machine. I made a video of my experiences there which you can view below. Angus Hines of Hines Design Lab also helped me out tremendously along with Bill to get me organized and cutting in record time. 2011 ShopBot Tools Roadtrip

You can find it under Category / Office / Business Card Holders. Business Card Holder: 3D Assembly Animation (720HD)

If you know of a laser cutting shop in Indonesia or own one yourself, please ask them to contact me on the contact form found at WoodMarvels.com or in the comments below on this blog – I may have a project for you to cut for a local customer there and ongoing projects in the future. I am not looking at buying a machine, strictly cutting services. Feel free to forward this request as well. Thanks, Jon
