We are slowly migrating all of our designs away from round dowels and into pre-cut square ones that come with the model. There are two HUGE advantages to this! First, the client no longer needs to go to the hardware store to find, measure and cut wooden dowels and second, everything “just fits” right out of the box! I just saw a screencast from Magento, our e-commerce platform, that finally, downloadable products are going to be possible! This is fantastic news as it means you no can get access to your PDFs immediately once the payment is processed by Paypal instead of having to wait for us to manually e-mail it to you! This update also seems to offer storage of previously purchased PDFs, which would be a great feature for our customers. This also opens-up many other doors for our soon to be released “featured designers” section but more on that later

We have now completed our transition from our old “hardwood” to our new “laser cut” 3D animation format. The Ferris Wheel animation really looks fantastic using this new technique with all the contrasts it provides. Here is the before and after shot, we are sure you will agree it never looked better! We are also planning a dowel free version so we have a lot of conversions yet to be done so everything is available flat-packed and ready for assembly on-demand!

Yes, you have read right… WoodMarvels.com has now launched its custom design services! If there is a product you want designed and sent directly to your home, WoodMarvels.com is the place to go! We will be offering packages for non-designers as well to get their ideas on-demand our site so they can generate some revenue from their concepts but we are still in the middle of figuring-out a competitive and attractive package in that area sometime in the New Year.
